Messaging automation

Route a relevant social enquiry, deliver a requested resource and hand the conversation to a person.

Edition date:

The job this category serves

A person has already created a relevant social signal and needs a consistent next response. Start with one supported channel and one requested action. Write the first response, qualification condition and handoff before drawing an automation flow.

What needs to exist first

  • The exact social channel, account type and initiating event.
  • The resource or answer the person requested and the boundaries of the response.
  • An operator, a stop condition and a record of the next action.

Where this category stops

Do not treat a social profile as a business-account list. A support complaint also needs issue tracking; a marketing response alone cannot show whether the problem was resolved.

A useful acceptance test

Use five representative enquiries, including an unclear question and a person who needs human help. Check that each one reaches the right owner with enough context. Confirm account eligibility and current platform rules directly.

Compare time to a useful response, correct handoff and unresolved enquiries. Raw messages sent do not establish success.

Illustrative situation

An Instagram shop repeatedly receives questions about sizing. A useful pilot answers the requested sizing question and routes uncertain cases to a person. It does not automatically start an unrelated email campaign.

CapabilityEvidence to ask forException to test

QualificationOnly the information needed for the next responseA person asks for help or supplies an unexpected answer

A worked planning example

A small clothing shop separates three sample messages: a sizing-chart request, a fit question and a missing-order complaint. The first can use a requested-resource response. The second needs judgement; the third belongs in a resolution queue. The useful design is the routing decision between those items, not one automation that sends the same link to all three.

Set up a limited pilot

  1. Choose one channel and one initiating event. Confirm that the actual business account can use it.
  2. Write the answer and the point at which the automated response should stop.
  3. Create a handoff record containing the source, the request, the attempted answer and the owner.
  4. Try a duplicate request, an unclear response and a request to stop. Inspect the resulting record.

How to approach a product shortlist

Compare a native inbox and saved answers first. Manychat is a relevant independent research profile when repeated social-response work remains after that check. Confirm the channel, trigger and plan separately. High message volume alone does not establish a need for more automation.
