What the official sources establish
Dated product claims appear after the current review window is checked.
Who should investigate it
Merchants with a defined out-of-stock variant, recorded requests and someone to own notification failures.
Investigate a requested restock alert when SKU records, availability rules and a notification owner are clear.
Where the fit stops
A stock request is not an inventory system or an unrestricted marketing subscription.
- An unclear or unreliable SKU-to-variant map.
- One-time requests reused as unrestricted marketing subscriptions.
- A stock event treated as a guarantee that the item will remain available when the shopper acts.
Relevant capability areas: Stock alerts & customer SMS. A product can span several categories; the task is still evaluated separately.
Test one requested variant above and below its threshold
Create controlled requests for one unavailable variant and an unrelated variant. Rehearse stock changes, duplicates and a withdrawn request. The steps are proposed acceptance checks, not an app performance test.
- Record the requested SKU, channel, source and completion condition.
- Define the relevant sellable quantity and threshold.
- Rehearse low-stock and qualifying-stock events.
- Inspect batch order, repeat requests and stock that disappears again.
- Check withdrawal and the recovery owner for failed notifications.

| Record | Acceptance question |
|---|---|
| Request | Is the exact variant and channel preserved? |
| Availability | Did the reviewed stock condition actually occur? |
| Notification | Was the intended request handled once with a usable failure state? |
Availability is a point-in-time event
Retain the stock state that justified the alert and the request it was meant to answer. Plan what the shopper sees if the item sells out again before they act. Compare correct variant alerts, duplicates and recovery effort rather than treating notification volume as fulfilled demand.
Questions to take to the vendor
- Which variant and availability condition did the person request?
- What happens when stock is below the threshold or sells out again?
- How do request withdrawal, message failure and an unrelated variant behave?
What belongs in the cost check
- Check channel usage, message allowance and required features.
- Review reminders, retries and connected-system costs.
- Include stock-event reconciliation and customer-question coverage.
No price table or universal plan entitlement is published here. Obtain the current quote for the actual account, territory, billing term and actions; include operator time and recovery work.
Before starting a trial
